Serpents and snakes and scorpions surround me
Blocking my path to Jesus, trying to stop me dead
Monsters, demons, thugs and murderers are deeply involved
In trying to keep me from getting back to you Lord
I don’t panic nor do I fear anything that satan can do
Cause I am a child of the one true God, Jehovah, Jehovah
Always keeps an eye on me, protecting me from harm
Satan’s minions too begin their attacks from behind
But Jesus always has my back, yes, always has my back
The enemy is laid out in ranks ten bodies deep
But, through it all I am undiscouraged, undamaged and untouched
When you walk through the fire you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you, leaving you blackened and smudged
For the fire of the Lord tempers you like the finest steel, burnished brightly
An edge honed to perfection, in Jesus; Holding the sharpest edge, in the Word
And shielded by and in the blood of Jesus, our Lord and our Salvation
